A periodical is a newspaper, magazine, or journal.

  • The word periodical means something that is published on a regular basis, also known as something that is published periodically, which led to the name Periodical for that kind of material.  Periodicals are also called Serials, as in something being published in a serial manner (one after another).

How do I do research in it?

  • When you are doing research, you will be looking for information on a particular topic.  If you search in our research databases, they will show you lists of articles on your topic.  You will either go to the full-text online article (found in a database, but originally published in a periodical) or you will go to a particular periodical on the shelf in the library to find the specific article on your topic.
